Opera Ensemble

Directed by Pippa Dames Longworth, Ian Rutherford and Andrew Smith

The ‘Opera Ensemble’ course, directed by Pippa, Ian and Andrew, returns again this year and will once again cast a piece/s chosen specifically for the individuals on the course.  There will be two ‘formal’ sessions a day (sessions 3 and 4), though there will be further informal sessions offered across each morning as well for those who would like to take the course intensively. The week will end with a staged performance – accompanied by the Opera Ensemble Orchestra! There will also be chances to work individually with each of the tutors on vocalising, style, characterisation, movement and musicianship. All three tutors are highly experienced and will work within an atmosphere of fun and of support.

The course is open to singers able to hold a solo line comfortably and who are happy to arrive with their music memorised.  There is no audition but Pippa will ask for a short video/audio recording in order to hear the colour and range of your voice, which will then inform the choice of repertoire.  There will be a limited number of places and so please apply as soon as possible. We will have fun!

This course will operate across sessions 2 to 4. Participants may choose to attend one or more of these sessions, but everyone who would like to take part should select this course in Session 3.
