Bursaries
MSSF Bursary Application
The Music Summer School and Festival (MSSF) offers a limited number of bursaries to help people access our courses who might otherwise find the cost a barrier to participation.
Bursaries are available to applicants aged 18 and over at the time of the summer school. We welcome applications from people of all ages above 18, backgrounds and levels of musical experience. You do not need to be pursuing a professional musical career to apply.
We value musical curiosity, commitment, a willingness to learn and the contribution participants can make to the shared musical and social life of MSSF.
Financial contribution
Bursaries are intended to help with course fees and are not normally full scholarships. Applicants should expect to make a contribution towards the fees and should tell us what they could reasonably afford. We recognise that financial circumstances vary and will take these into account when considering applications.
The number of awards is limited so please investigate all other funding and sponsorships sources.
Eligibility
MSSF bursaries are available to applicants aged 18 and over at the time of the summer school. We welcome applications from people of all ages above 18, backgrounds and levels of musical experience, including amateur musicians and those returning to music.
Deadline and selection
Please submit your application by 15 February to be considered in the main round of bursary awards. The number and value of bursaries will depend on the funds available, and submitting an application does not guarantee an award.
MSSF reserves the right to make further bursary awards after 15 February if funds remain available and circumstances allow.
Applications will be considered on the basis of financial need, the applicant’s reasons for attending, their commitment to and potential for musical development, and the contribution they may make to the MSSF community. We aim to support a diverse range of participants and musical experiences.
Accessibility support
Participants with disabilities who need a support person to attend the Summer School may apply for financial assistance towards the cost of their support person. This can be requested separately from a personal bursary application. Assistance is subject to the availability of funds; please contact MSSF to discuss your requirements.
