Baroque Chamber Music

Directed by The Brook Street Band

Rachel Harris – violin
Tatty Theo – cello
Carolyn Gibley – harpsichord

Join the musicians of The Brook Street Band for a deep dive into baroque chamber music, with coaching sessions and a supporting series of short talks on Handel and his music, plus various aspects of historical performance practice (including ornamentation and playing continuo), bringing the eighteenth century vividly to life. Suggested repertoire to include Handel’s solo and trio sonatas, ops. 1, 2 and 5, alongside Telemann’s Essercizii musici. Where possible students should perform from a facsimile edition. Students are also free to choose their own music from the period. We welcome individuals and pre-formed groups (woodwind, strings, continuo) working at A415 or players on modern instruments at A440 simply wishing to learn more about this wonderful repertoire and experience the thrill of making music amongst friends, true chamber music.
