Song: The German Lied

Sat 1st Aug to Sat 8th Aug
SS26

Song: The German Lied, directed by James Gilchrist and Anna Tilbrook

James and Anna will welcome singers and pianists who wish to collaborate in exploring the rich world of German song, from Schubert and Schumann to Brahms, Wolf and Strauss. A repertoire list will be published in advance, and those taking the course will be invited to indicate which songs from the list they would like to focus on.

Throughout the week, James and Anna will work sometimes together with the full group and sometimes separately with smaller groups, sharing their deep experience and insight into this repertoire. Their teaching will cover interpretation, language, style, and the unique partnership between singer and pianist at the heart of the Lied tradition.

This is a wonderful opportunity for singers and pianists — both established duos and those looking to form new partnerships — to immerse themselves in a week of German song, guided by two of the finest interpreters of this repertoire performing today.

This session is now SOLD OUT.
