Sing with Stile – ‘The Italian Job: from Palestrina to Monteverdi’

Directed by Stile Antico

Come and explore large-scale motets music from Renaissance Italy! Singing alongside members of Stile, participants will have the opportunity to sing some of the finest works of the sixteenth and seventeenth century. To celebrate 500 years since the birth of Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, the course will focus on the works of the undisputed master of the stile antico: Exploring his legacy, we will then move north, to the great centres of Florence, Mantua and Venice, with splendid polychoral works by the Gabrielis, and ground-breaking masterpieces by the wonderful Claudio Monteverdi.

Scores will be available for purchase on arrival. If requested, e-scores can be sent out in mid-June to allow participants to prepare in advance.

Standard: Intermediate and above. Applicants to the course are requested to email in advance with an indication of experience and sight-reading ability, to help allocate groups appropriately.

Note that this course has limited availability, places will be allocated according to voice type on a first come first served basis until capacity is reached.

Soprano and Alto places are now fully booked, we do still have places for Tenors and Basses.

Professionally printed and bound booklets containing all the music required will be sold for £10 on the first day of the course, and all participants will be expected to purchase a booklet (preferably in cash but card payments will also be possible).
