This is an informal course designed for pianists of all levels of abilities. Most of our time will be dedicated to individual tuition, and all lessons will be open. Everybody is welcome and encouraged to observe all sessions, ask questions, and contribute in any way they like. All repertoire is welcome, from Baroque to contemporary music. There is no requirement to perform a piece in full – whether you want to start a piece from scratch, work on the opening page or discuss fingerings or practice methods for a particular passage, you are welcome to use your individual time in any way you prefer to suit your personal aims. That said, performances are most welcome, and we can use those to discuss issues relating to interpretation or coping with the pressure of public performance. Depending on time, we will also allow space for an optional group session on warm ups, practice tips and a Q&A. Most importantly, the course will be delivered in a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere, where everybody can feel safe to share their music, regardless of their level. The key to this course will be our shared love for music and for life-long learning.
