Bach – St John Passion

The Summer School Choir will spend the week exploring Bach’s endlessly rewarding St John Passion. In this sublime work Bach places the chorus centre-stage, whether in the great tableaux of the opening and closing choruses, the searingly dramatic crowd scenes, or the profoundly reflective chorales which punctuate the story. For our performance at the close of Week One we are joined by James Gilchrist, one of the finest Evangelists of our time, and by soloists from Stile Antico, and the Summer School Baroque Orchestra.
