Rhiannon Evans

Rhiannon Evans, though from a family of professional musicians, initially studied Science at Cardiff and Cambridge Universities before bowing to the inevitable and becoming a musician herself. Her cello studies took place at the Welsh College of Music and Drama with Philip Kent, at Leicester University with Russell Davis (who also made her cello), and finally at the Royal College of Music with her uncle Michael Evans (formerly of Dartington College and Dartington String Quartet). A highly experienced chamber musician, she plays in several quartets, freelances in the Oxford area, teaches privately and also works as an ensemble coach for Oxfordshire Music Service. She has worked as Chamber Music Coordinator at Dartington International Summer School for many years. She also has a keen interest in Early Music, and plays in various local viol consorts and Baroque groups. In her spare time she enjoys allotment gardening, walking in the Brecon Beacons and on Dartmoor, and running beginner philosophy sessions for her young grandchildren.
