Ensemble Tempus Fugit

Ensemble Tempus Fugit (@ETFugit; www.ensembletempusfugit.co.uk) brings together outstanding musicians and artists in concerts that blur the edges between performer, audience, art form, and culture.

Its pioneering project ‘Calcutta’ was the first show of its kind to showcase Indian Classical & European Baroque music with guest artists Sanjay Guha and Jonathan Mayer (sitar) and Debipriya Sircar (Indian Classical voice). It enjoyed a successful national tour in 2019 supported by Arts Council England followed by performances sponsored by Birmingham’s Ex Cathedra. Ensemble Tempus Fugit was grateful for the support of National Early Music Association in 2020.

Other recent highlights include ‘Music/mental’, a video project exploring themes of isolation and mental health with bass Trevor Eliot Bowes in Handel’s ‘Fra l’ombre e gl’orrori’, and a fusion of Purcell’s ‘Ye gentle spirits of the air’ with new music by Dr. Alexis Bennett. The group is developing new crossover arrangements from period material for a forthcoming EP.
