Jacqueline Kershaw – horn

Born in Hayle and educated in Cornwall, Jacqueline studied in London at both The Royal Academy of Music and The Guildhall School of Music & Drama. Her first appointment was with the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra – the broadcasting authority orchestra for Israel. Jacqueline lived and worked in Jerusalem for three years with tours to Germany, Switzerland, France, Italy and the Czech Republic. Having returned to freelance in London in 1997, she was again invited to join the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra for a months’ tour to Spain and America in 2003, with the final concert of the tour taking place in New York’s Carnegie Hall.

Jacqueline now lives back in Cornwall and is in high demand throughout the southwest as both a performer and teacher. She teaches privately (in person and online) and is the Horn Specialist for the Cornwall Music Service Trust – inspiring students of all levels and ages to be the best that they can. She is also the ‘Awards Manager’ for the Cornwall Music Service Trust, looking after the ‘gifted and talented’ students. Jacqueline coaches the Cornwall Youth Orchestra and is a guest conductor with local amateur orchestras and chamber groups.

Jacqueline is a frequent performer with Duchy Opera, Duchy Ballet, The Cornish Sinfonia, Three Spires Orchestra, The Steampunk Orchestra and The Christmas Orchestra, Chapel Street Music, Big Bang Brass and other chamber ensembles. She particularly enjoyed the very challenging season of performances with ‘Kevos’ a local contemporary music group, when they performed ‘The Firework Maker’s Daughter’ by David Bruce at the Minack Theatre in June 2022.

Jacqueline also enjoys the solo repertoire for horn and has had several pieces written for her – the most recent being ‘The Blue Boy Concerto’ by Andrew Wilson which she premiered in April 2024. Jacqueline is also in frequent demand as a recording artist too, she is on several ‘alternative pop’ records on the Fletchertronic label and can be heard on the soundtrack of ‘A Potted Potter’ with music by Phil Innes, which is currently on tour in Las Vegas.
