Jenny Farley

Based in Cornwall, Jenny leads a diverse career as a sought after performer, educator and examiner, and her freelance work takes her all over the world. Having studied flute and piano at Chetham’s School of Music and the Royal Northern College of Music, achieving her Bachelor of Music degree with Honors and gaining a Professional Performance diploma, she moved to London and quickly established herself as a professional player and teacher, whilst studying for her Postgraduate Diploma at Royal Academy of Music.

As a soloist and chamber musician Jenny’s work has varied hugely, ranging from solo recitals at venues such as Southwark Cathedral and Norfolk and Norwich Festival; performing with as part of a flute, viola and harp trio, including a number of newly commissioned works; working with Endymion across the UK including the BBC Proms; being part of small group education projects with Philharmonia Orchestra. She has been in demand as an orchestral player for 25 years, playing flute, piccolo and alto flute with orchestras such as Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, English National Opera, BBC National Orchestra of Wales and many more.

Jenny’s work as a teacher began when she was just 16, and has been constantly evolving ever since, working with children and adults of all ages and standards, whatever their goals and aims for learning. She has also coached ensembles and led masterclasses, both as a soloist and as a chamber musician. In 2014 she qualified as an examiner for ABRSM, a job which has informed her teaching further, and which continues to take her all over the world, examining in countries such as Malaysia, Hong Kong and Cyprus.

Since moving to Cornwall in 2021, Jenny’s versatility has enabled her to cement her professional reputation in the South West, teaching across both Cornwall and Devon, and performing with numerous chamber groups and orchestras, including Chapel Street Music, Three Spires Orchestra, appearing as a soloist with Truro Sinfonia, and recording music for Eden Project with Big Bang Music.
