Mendelssohn’s Elijah blends dramatic storytelling with lyrical beauty. The rich orchestration and powerful, expressive choral writing make this a fabulous piece to sing. The oratorio draws from the biblical story of the prophet Elijah and there is a beautiful mix of intimate solos and large strident choral writing that brings the story to life and creates a vast soundscape. The course culminates in a performance with soloists and orchestra.

This course will use the New Novello edition of Mendelssohn’s Elijah.
