Dark Sun – 6th August, 1945 – COME AND PARTICIPATE
On the 6th August 2025 we mark a sombre anniversary being 80 years to the day since the atomic bomb was dropped on the city of Hiroshima. Stephen Montague’s Dark Sun – 6th August,1945, in memorium for the victims and survivors of the nuclear age, is a threnody for this tragic event. It is scored for a large orchestral and vocal ensemble of flexible instrumentation and varying individual performance standards. It includes a number of special (and not difficult) instrumental techniques, the use of percussion, wine glasses and original tape material from the war work together to create a stunning and evocative sound world.
We are seeking vocalists and instrumentalists of any level who would be interested in participating in the performance of Dark Sun – 6th August 1945. There will be a workshop on Sunday 3rd August, directed by Stephen Montague. This will take place in the Chapel at Gresham’s School from 11am to 3.30pm (there is a break for lunch from 12.30pm to 2pm). If you would like to take part, and are available for both the workshop and the performance please complete the following registration form and we will get back to you to confirm further details:
