Lydia Brookes – Health & Safety Manager
Lydia first encountered the Summer School as a Trog, returning in subsequent years as an oboist in the Festival Orchestra, performing in the Marriage of Figaro and the Rite of Spring.
Being part of the Summer School formed a bridge from her previous life as a lawyer into the music world, going on to work in arts management for the English Chamber Orchestra, St John’s Smith Square, Blackheath Halls and Tenebrae choir. Having achieved her Professional Diploma in oboe at Trinity Laban Conservatoire in 2024, Lydia currently enjoys a combination of freelance playing and arts management, including as Business Manager for Arcangelo and as Administrator of the London Piano Festival. This Autumn she looks forward to starting a Masters degree in baroque oboe at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Cologne.
