Conor Gricmanis

Raised on a farm in rural Shropshire, Conor Gricmanis has established himself as an internationally recognised baroque violinist, performing as soloist, concertmaster, and ensemble leader with some of the UK and Europe’s most distinguished period ensembles, including the Academy of Ancient Music, the Irish Baroque Orchestra, and the Belgian ensemble Il Gardellino.

Equally at home as a soloist and chamber musician, Conor has appeared at leading festivals and concert venues across Europe and beyond. In 2025 he toured extensively throughout Europe, appeared in Shanghai performing violin concerti by Johann Sebastian Bach, and spent a month in New York City as a featured soloist in an innovative collaboration bringing together baroque repertoire and contemporary composition.

Alongside numerous orchestral recordings, Conor has released a critically acclaimed solo album devoted to the virtuosic violin sonatas of Marco Uccellini, where he was praised for his expressive freedom and stylistic insight. His disc of galant chamber music, Galant Night Fever, explores the wit, elegance, and theatricality of mid-eighteenth-century instrumental music and is available on all major streaming platforms.

Conor is an alumnus of the Royal Academy of Music, where he studied with the renowned baroque violinist Rachel Podger, and the Royal College of Music, where he studied with Bojan Čičić. In 2026 he founded the Shrewsbury Baroque Orchestra, an ensemble dedicated to bringing historically informed performances of baroque music to audiences in Shropshire and the surrounding region.
