Claire Heaney – Chief Steward

Claire Heaney – Chief Steward

Having been introduced to the Summer School by Marina (the summer school’s music librarian), Claire has been part of the stewarding team every year since the tender age of 15 (apart from when Covid19 interfered with plans). Over this time she has worked with amazing volunteers and been witness to a host of spectacular concerts and events, including one that began at 6am, ones that had as many on stage as in the audience, and one in which a performer heckled his own performance! Claire loves the fully immersive experience that the summer school offers, finding inspiration there as well as recharging her batteries.

Outside of summer school, Claire works as a researcher in computational fluid dynamics and machine learning based at Imperial College London. For entertainment, she plays the flute with several groups in and around Cardiff and the South West, including Ystradivarius, Réjouissance, the Corelli Orchestra, and the Musical and Amicable Society.

Claire is very much looking forward to exploring the amazing site at Gresham’s during the Music Summer School and Festival 2024, and hopes to see you there.
